Greek Super Cup

The Greek Super Cup (Greek: Σούπερ Καπ Ελλάδος) or, officially known in the past, Cup of Friendship and Solidarity (Greek: Κύπελλο Φιλίας και Αλληλεγγύης) is a Greek association football competition, which takes place in an annual match between the Super League champion team and the winners of the Greek Cup.

The match is contested most usually in the Athens Olympic Stadium, except the unofficial editions of the Super Cup that were played in Karaiskákis Stadium in 1970 and 1971 (first leg) and the official 1996 and 2007 and Nikos Goumas Stadium in the unofficial 1971 (second leg) and 1980.

Famous quotes containing the words greek and/or cup:

All that we call ideal in Greek or any other art, because to us it is false and visionary, was, to the makers of it, true and existent.
    John Ruskin (1819–1900)

I write mainly for the kindly race of women. I am their sister, and in no way exempt from their sorrowful lot. I have drank [sic] the cup of their limitations to the dregs, and if my experience can help any sad or doubtful woman to outleap her own shadow, and to stand bravely out in the sunshine to meet her destiny, whatever it may be, I shall have done well; I have not written this book in vain.
    Amelia E. Barr (1831–1919)
