Famous quotes containing the words greater, western, sydney, football and/or club:

But the divinest poem, or the life of a great man, is the severest satire.... The greater the genius, the keener the edge of the satire.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

So motionless, she seemed stone dead—just seemed:
She was too old for death, too old for life,
For as if jealous of all living forms
She had lain there before bivalves began
To catacomb their shells on western mountains.
    Edwin John Pratt (1882–1964)

A straw vote only shows which way the hot air blows.
    O. Henry [William Sydney Porter] (1862–1910)

...I’m not money hungry.... People who are rich want to be richer, but what’s the difference? You can’t take it with you. The toys get different, that’s all. The rich guys buy a football team, the poor guys buy a football. It’s all relative.
    Martina Navratilova (b. 1956)

The adjustment of qualities is so perfect between men and women, and each is so necessary to the other, that the idea of inferiority is absurd.
