Grand National Cross Country

The Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series is America's premier off-road motorcycle, ATV and UTV racing series. Founded in 1975, the 13-round championship is produced exclusively by Racer Productions. Cross country racing is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. The grueling three-hour GNCC races lead as many as 1,800 riders through tracks ranging in length from ten to twelve miles, competing for more than $3 million in prizes. With varying terrain through the woods riders also contend with hills, mud, rocks, roots, motocross sections and more. GNCC events are tests of both survival and speed. The GNCC events attract riders from all 50 states and around the world. GNCC Racing is open to both professional and amateur racers in a variety of skill level and age classes.

Famous quotes containing the words grand, national, cross and/or country:

Unpretending mediocrity is good, and genius is glorious; but a weak flavor of genius in an essentially common person is detestable. It spoils the grand neutrality of a commonplace character, as the rinsings of an unwashed wine-glass spoil a draught of fair water.
    Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (1809–1894)

Thinking is the most unhealthy thing in the world, and people die of it just as they die of any other disease. Fortunately, in England at any rate, thought is not catching. Our splendid physique as a people is entirely due to our national stupidity.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

...I learned in the early part of my career that labor must bear the cross for others’ sins, must be the vicarious sufferer for the wrongs that others do.
    Mother Jones (1830–1930)

In schools all over the world, little boys learn that their country is the greatest in the world, and the highest honor that could befall them would be to defend it heroically someday. The fact that empathy has traditionally been conditioned out of boys facilitates their obedience to leaders who order them to kill strangers.
Myriam Miedzian, U.S. author. Boys Will Be Boys, ch. 3 (1991)
