Goole - Governance

Governance

Before the reform of local government in 1974, brought about by the Local Government Act 1972, Goole was in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was then placed in the Boothferry district of the newly formed county of Humberside, until that was abolished in 1996. Since 1996, Goole has been in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is represented by six councillors on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Goole is currently in the parliamentary constituency of Brigg and Goole. The constituency is represented by one Member of Parliament in the House of Commons.
