Golden Joystick Award

The Golden Joystick Awards, also known as the People's Gaming Awards, are the world's second oldest gaming award ceremony (after the Arcade Awards), awarding the best home computer and video games of the year, as voted for by the general public. The ceremony is in its 30th year running (as of 2012).

The awards were initially focused on computer games, but was later extended to include console games as well, following the success of video game consoles such as the Sega Master System and Mega Drive in the United Kingdom. This award ceremony is not related to the prize given away to successful contestants on GamesMaster, a British television show.
