Famous quotes containing the words golden, gate and/or fields:
“Your golden hair Margarete
your ashen hair Shulamith.”
—Paul Celan [Paul Antschel] (19201970)
“Hark, hark, the lark at heavens gate sings,
And Phoebus gins arise,
His steeds to water at those springs
On chaliced flowers that lies;
And winking Mary-buds begin to ope their golden eyes;
With every thing that pretty is, my lady sweet, arise;
Arise, arise!”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Nature will not let us fret and fume. She does not like our benevolence or our learning much better than she likes our frauds and wars. When we come out of the caucus, or the bank, or the abolition-convention, or the temperance-meeting, or the transcendental club, into the fields and woods, she says to us, so hot? my little Sir.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
