Glion Institute of Higher Education is a private university with two campuses located in the French-speaking part of Switzerland and one campus located in London. Opened in the fall of 1962 in the former Bellevue Hotel, Glion was the first private, university-level Swiss hotel management school.

Glion Institute of Higher Education offers undergraduate, postgraduate and graduate programs that combine industry knowledge with managerial skills and personal development. The degree tracks include hospitality management or event, sport and entertainment with a variety of specializations and entrance/exit-points. Glion is accredited at university level by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) for the United States Department of Education.

In 2012, Glion enrolled 1634 students from over 98 different countries. Glion has three campuses: two in Switzerland and one in London. The Glion flagship campus, overlooking Lake Geneva region above Montreux, is where students focus on hotel and restaurant operations, administration and general education. The upper-level undergraduates, postgraduate, and graduate students live on the Bulle campus, Bulle, 30 minutes away from Montreux, in the Gruyère region. The Glion London campus is located on the site of Roehampton University, in Southwest London.

The World Travel and Tourism Council estimates that between now and 2017, the hotel and tourism industry will generate 262 million jobs. To meet the industry’s demand for qualified leaders in the field of hospitality, Glion requires students to complete a number of professional internships for career development. In a global survey of 5-star hotel hiring managers, Glion was ranked number 2 among all international hospitality management schools for an international career. Statistically, three institutes occupy this ranking position.
