The GSA has a number of research centres including Digital Design Studio, Mackintosh Environmental Architectural Research Institute, Design Innovation Studio, Centre for Advanced Textiles and the Glasgow Urban Lab

Research professors include Professor Thomas Joshua Cooper, Professor Alastair Macdonald, Professor Paul Anderson, Professor Roger Wilson, Dr Tim Sharpe, Professor Irene McAra-McWilliam, Professor Linda Drew, Professor Christopher Platt and Professor Brian Evans.

The School currently has two Fulbright Distinguished Chairs within the Mackintosh School of Architecture: Professor Ann Markusen and Professor Juliana Maantay.

Famous quotes containing the words research, knowledge and/or exchange:

After all, the ultimate goal of all research is not objectivity, but truth.
    Helene Deutsch (1884–1982)

The Great Society is a place where every child can find knowledge to enrich his mind and to enlarge his talents.... It is a place where the city of man serves not only the needs of the body and the demands of commerce but the desire for beauty and the hunger for community.... It is a place where men are more concerned with the quality of their goals than the quantity of their goods.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

The social kiss is an exchange of insincerity between two combatants on the field of social advancement. It places hygiene before affection and condescension before all else.
Sunday Correspondent (London, Aug. 12, 1990)
