  • Sir James Gibson-Craig, 1st Baronet (11 October 1765-6 March 1850). Born James Gibson, he assumed the additional surname of Craig in 1818. Gibson-Craig purchased Haltoun House in 1797 and its estate, which he proceeded to break up into smaller units and sell off at a profit, leaving the ancient mansion with just 500 acres (2.0 km2) to sustain it.
