Gelephu Thromde has 11.52 km2 planning boundary area which can be increased further. It has 6 sub zones.Core market area is very close to the Indo-Bhutan border. There is great initiative taken by the Thrompon of the Gelephu Thromde and the Planning team which comprises divisional head, chief engineer, sr. urban planner and an urban planning consultant from India while making the Local Area Plan 1 & 2. There is provision of new 4 LAPs within the Thromde area. Urban Planner A.K. Chauhan is the core planner while delineating the boundaries of these LAPs.
