Airport
Gelephu has Bhutan's second most busy (domestic) airport. By 2011, the Gelephu airport faced major obstacles in beginning work, including a lack of willing contractors to bid on the project. Work was finally begun in July 2011, with a completion date set for the end of April 2012. Finally, Gelephu Airport was inaugurated by Lyonchen Jigme Yoser Thinley (Dzongkha: འཇིགས་མེད་འོད་ཟེར་འཕྲིན་ལས་) on 25th October 2012 in the presence on senior ex-officials in presence of more than 1880 spectators of local areas.
