Early Life
Gambhir was born on 14 October 1981 in New Delhi to Deepak Gambhir, who manages a textiles business.and Seema Gambhir, a housewife. He has a younger sister named Ekta. Gambhir was adopted by his grandparents eighteen days after his birth and lived with them ever since. He received his schooling from Modern School, New Delhi and graduated from Hindu College, University of Delhi. He married Natasha Jain, who belongs to a prominent business family, on 28 October 2011. He currently resides in Delhi's Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood.
Gambhir started playing cricket at the age of 10 and was selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
