Gary Ewing - Dallas Series Finale

Dallas Series Finale

Gary appeared again in the final episode of Dallas in 1991. In the finale, J.R. Ewing experienced a dream sequence that detailed a world in which J.R. had never been born, making Gary the eldest Ewing son. In this dream, Gary still meets Valene, but not until much later, and Lucy is never born. It is revealed in the dream that Gary inherited Ewing Oil following Jock's retirement but as he was a "lousy oilman," the company went bankrupt two years later, resulting in Jock committing suicide and Miss Ellie dying of a broken heart. Gary rebuilds his life by beginning a career as a successful Beverly Hills attorney.

Famous quotes containing the words dallas, series and/or finale:

In its artless cruelty, Dallas is superior to any “intelligent” critique that can be made of it. That is why intellectual snobbery meets its match here.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

I look on trade and every mechanical craft as education also. But let me discriminate what is precious herein. There is in each of these works an act of invention, an intellectual step, or short series of steps taken; that act or step is the spiritual act; all the rest is mere repetition of the same a thousand times.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Let us think this thought in its most terrible form: existence as it is, without meaning or aim, and yet recurring inevitably, without a finale in nothingness—”eternal recurrence.”
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
