The Fire

The Fry Street Fire was set around 11 p.m. Hundreds of students were at the bars in the area, and watched the fire. More students gathered after the news had reached them. Famous quotes containing the word fire:

Gradually I regained my usual composure. I reread Pale Fire more carefully. I liked it better when expecting less. And what was that? What was that dim distant music, those vestiges of color in the air? Here and there I discovered in it and especially, especially in the invaluable variants, echoes and spangles of my mind, a long ripplewake of my glory.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

“Heap coals of fire on the head of your enemy” Mthis most uncharitable advice is found in a book [the Bible], of which charity is reckoned the standard principle.
    Horace Walpole (1717–1797)
