Freedom Pass - Restoration of Free Travel at Age 60

Restoration of Free Travel At Age 60

From November 2012, Greater London residents upon turning 60 may once again travel free in London by using the new "60+ London Oyster photocard". This restores, within Greater London only, the entitlement that was removed when the age limit for the national concessionary travel scheme (and hence for the Freedom Pass) started to be progressively raised in 2010.

The 60+ London Oyster photocard expires when the holder becomes eligible for the Freedom Pass.

Famous quotes containing the words restoration of, restoration, free, travel and/or age:

I claim that in losing the spinning wheel we lost our left lung. We are, therefore, suffering from galloping consumption. The restoration of the wheel arrests the progress of the fell disease.
    Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869–1948)

Men who are occupied in the restoration of health to other men, by the joint exertion of skill and humanity, are above all the great of the earth. They even partake of divinity, since to preserve and renew is almost as noble as to create.
    Voltaire [François Marie Arouet] (1694–1778)

Russian women all have something free and large about them.
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)

There is the grand truth about Nathaniel Hawthorne. He says NO! in thunder; but the Devil himself cannot make him say yes. For all men who say yes, lie; and all men who say no,—why, they are in the happy condition of judicious, unincumbered travellers in Europe; they cross the frontiers into Eternity with nothing but a carpet-bag,—that is to say, the Ego. Whereas those yes-gentry, they travel with heaps of baggage, and, damn them! they will never get through the Custom House.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

The best work of artists in any age is the work of innocence liberated by technical knowledge. The laboratory experiments that led to the theory of pure color equipped the impressionists to paint nature as if it had only just been created.
    Nancy Hale (b. 1908)
