Free World Military Forces

Free World Military Forces, or FWMF was a military force composed of a collective group of nations who sent troops to fight in Vietnam under the FWMF banner. They supported American and South Vietnamese forces against the Vietcong. The number of troops sent varied greatly, with nearly 50,000 from Korea, and only 10 from Spain. Many of these nations fought under their own banners in the Vietnam War, but were part of the FWMF organization, or had troops fighting under both their own banner in addition to sending FWMF forces.

Famous quotes containing the words free, world, military and/or forces:

Actually we are a vulgar, pushing mob whose passions are easily mobilized by demagogues, newspaper men, religious quacks, agitators and such like. To call this a society of free peoples is blasphemous. What have we to offer the world besides the superabundant loot which we recklessly plunder from the earth under the maniacal delusion that this insane activity represents progress and enlightenment?
    Henry Miller (1891–1980)

I pray that Allah may be moved
To drop sleep on her eyes because she loved.
—Unknown. The Thousand and One Nights.

AWP. Anthology of World Poetry, An. Mark Van Doren, ed. (Rev. and enl. Ed., 1936)

Stately as a galleon, I sail across the floor,
Doing the military two-step, as in the days of yore.
    Joyce Grenfell (1910–1979)

No one will stop to help you when you are in need, but everyone forces opinions upon you that you do not require.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)
