Foreign Language Specialized School - Curriculum

Curriculum

The school offers six foreign languages in its curriculum. Russian, English and Mandarin Chinese were its three initial linguistic subjects before 1980-1981 semester. French, German and Japanese were added afterward. Students are arranged into classes specializing in one primary foreign language. From 2008-2009 semester, two foreign language courses (one specialized and one elective) are required for FLSS students. Since the 2009-2010 academic year, Korean has been added as another elective foreign language, along with Chinese, English, French and Japanese.

In the 2009-2010 academic year, FLSS implemented teaching in English for its mathematics and science courses.

Famous quotes containing the word curriculum:

If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)
