Starting in 2004, Forbes magazine has made a list of the 100 most powerful women in the world. It is edited by editor Mary Ellen Egan, and based on visibility and economic impact. Leading the table six times in the last seven years, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany is understood to be the world's most powerful woman.
