The sport of football in the country of Somalia is run by the Somali Football Federation. The association administers the national football team, as well as the Premier League.
In parts of the country controlled by the militant group Al-Shabab football is outlawed, as it is seen as a game of chance and hence discouraged by the Qu'ran. Nevertheless it is popular with the public and often games are played and watched away from military zones at great personal risk.
