Flying Horse Walk

The Flying Horse Walk is an shopping arcade located at the heart of Nottingham City Centre in Nottingham, England. The arcade houses a variety of fashon boutiques and other retailers. It is situated just off the city's Old Market Square on The Poultry.

It takes its name from a fifteenth century public house of the same name, the Flying Horse Inn, that is located at the Market Square end of the walk. The facade of the public house has been retained and is Grade II listed building. It was extensively restored in 1935 and converted in 1989 as an entrance to the shopping centre.

The centre changed ownership in 2011. The new owners have changed the name back to Flying Horse Walk, from FH Mall, and acquired new retail tenents. They plan to convert the two uppermost floors into student accommodation.

Retailers in the shopping centre include:

  • The Cheese Shop
  • Trendyfeel Fashion Accessories Boutique
  • Ann Harvey
  • Canopy
  • Cathy Stephens
  • Slater Menswear
  • Vivienne Westwood
  • Whitehall Galleries
  • Atomic

Famous quotes containing the words flying, horse and/or walk:

It is a happy thing that there is no royal road to poetry. The world should know by this time that one cannot reach Parnassus except by flying thither.
    Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844–1889)

When a horse comes to the edge of the cliff, it is too late to draw rein; when a boat reaches midstream, it is too late to stop the leaks.
    Chinese proverb.

...I have a duty to speak the truth as I see it and to share not just my triumphs, not just the things that felt good, but the pain, the intense, often unmitigating pain. It is important to share how I know survival is survival and not just a walk through the rain.
    Audre Lorde (1934–1992)
