United Kingdom(724 Km)

Although the United Kingdom Government participates fully in activities concerning the E-routes, E-routes are not signposted within the United Kingdom.

The E05 follows the following roads:

  • A8 and M8, Greenock into Glasgow
  • M8 through Glasgow
  • M74 and A74(M), Glasgow via Gretna to Carlisle
  • M6 Carlisle via Penrith, Preston, Warrington and Stoke-on-Trent to Birmingham
    • The M6 Toll provides an alternative route in the Birmingham area.
  • M42, M40, A34 and M3, Birmingham via Newbury to Southampton

The E 05 has a gap at the English Channel between Southampton and Le Havre, France. There is no direct ferry link, but a ferry from nearby Portsmouth, along the M27, connects to Le Havre.
