European Case Clearing House

European Case Clearing House

ecch is an independent, educational, non-profit, membership based organisation with no share capital and a registered charity. Its mission is to promote the case method in management education by raising awareness, increasing usage and developing the skills of case teachers and authors.

ecch was created in 1973 as the Case Clearing House of Great Britain and Ireland - the result of a co-ordinated initiative by 22 institutions of higher education. The aim was to establish a facility for exchanging case materials among teachers of business administration. The UK office was set up at Cranfield School of Management, UK. The organisation obtained formal charity status in 1974. In 1991 CCHGBI became the European Case Clearing House to reflect the growth in case writing and teaching throughout Europe. In 1992 a US office was opened at Babson College to serve the North American market. In 2005, the organisation was rebranded as ecch, to support the global reach of its operations.

Famous quotes containing the words european, case, clearing and/or house:

In European thought in general, as contrasted with American, vigor, life and originality have a kind of easy, professional utterance. American—on the other hand, is expressed in an eager amateurish way. A European gives a sense of scope, of survey, of consideration. An American is strained, sensational. One is artistic gold; the other is bullion.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

Half the testimony in the Bobbitt case sounded like Sally Jesse Raphael. Juries watch programs like this and are ready to listen.
William Geimer, U.S. law educator. New York Times, p. B18 (January 28, 1994)

Usually the scenery about them is drear and savage enough; and the logger’s camp is as completely in the woods as a fungus at the foot of a pine in a swamp; no outlook but to the sky overhead; no more clearing than is made by cutting down the trees of which it is built, and those which are necessary for fuel.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

To the old saying that man built the house but woman made of it a “home” might be added the modern supplement that woman accepted cooking as a chore but man has made of it a recreation.
    Emily Post (1873–1960)
