European Beach Volleyball Championships

The European Beach Volleyball Championship (or the Nestea European Championship Final) is a sport competition for national teams in the sport of beach volleyball. The championship combines events for men and women, and is held annually, organized by the CEV (the European volleyball federation). At the first European Championships held in 1993 just men competed. A year later the women got their own championship. From 1995 it has been a combined event, for both men and women.

Famous quotes containing the words european and/or beach:

If Germany, thanks to Hitler and his successors, were to enslave the European nations and destroy most of the treasures of their past, future historians would certainly pronounce that she had civilized Europe.
    Simone Weil (1909–1943)

The seashore is a sort of neutral ground, a most advantageous point from which to contemplate this world. It is even a trivial place. The waves forever rolling to the land are too far-traveled and untamable to be familiar. Creeping along the endless beach amid the sun-squall and the foam, it occurs to us that we, too, are the product of sea-slime.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
