Members are nominated by a committee and elected by the Senate of the Academy, for example because of merits for research and society. Membership is an award and appreciation of scientific work. The members of the academy are organized in seven scientific classes:

I. Humanities
II. Medicine
III. Arts
IV. Natural Sciences
V. Social Sciences, Law and Economics
VI. Technical and Environmental Sciences
VII. World Religions
