Essex Senior Football League

The Essex Senior Football League is an English football league covering Essex, northeast Greater London and the eastern part of Hertfordshire. It is a feeder to Division One North of Isthmian League and has a single division which sits at step 5 (or level 9) of the National League System.

There is no automatic relegation from the Essex Senior League, as the league consistently operates with several teams fewer than the maximum allowed for a step 5 league, which is 22. For a team to be relegated from the Essex Senior League they would have to resign their Senior Status and join an Intermediate League.

Famous quotes containing the words essex, senior, football and/or league:

The unknown always seems unbelievable, Lucas.
    —Harry Essex (b. 1910)

Adolescents have the right to be themselves. The fact that you were the belle of the ball, the captain of the lacrosse team, the president of your senior class, Phi Beta Kappa, or a political activist doesn’t mean that your teenager will be or should be the same....Likewise, the fact that you were a wallflower, uncoordinated, and a C student shouldn’t mean that you push your child to be everything you were not.
    Laurence Steinberg (20th century)

In this dream that dogs me I am part
Of a silent crowd walking under a wall,
Leaving a football match, perhaps, or a pit,
    All moving the same way.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

We’re the victims of a disease called social prejudice, my child. These dear ladies of the law and order league are scouring out the dregs of the town. C’mon be a glorified wreck like me.
    Dudley Nichols (1895–1960)
