Erwadi is a town located in the Kadaladi taluk of Ramanathapuram District in southern Tamil Nadu. It is located on the coast between Keelakarai and Valinokkam. The town is famous for the shrine of Hazrat Sultan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed badusha radiyallah ta'ala anhu. Erwadi attracted international attention when 28 inmates of a faith based mental institution were burnt alive in an accidental fire.
