Erin Hoffman - Aftermath

Aftermath

After the entire affair and the court action, Hoffman and Hasty founded GameWatch, a watchdog organization meant to facilitate discussions between employees at different companies.

In 2010, she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Game Developers Association, a position which she held until early 2011. In June 2011 she published her first novel, Sword of Fire and Sea, ISBN 978-1-61614-373-2.

From September 2010 until October 2011, Hoffman was a Lead Systems Designer at Zynga. In December 2011, it was announced that she had joined Loot Drop as a lead designer.

Some time after the original posting, Evan Robinson published a follow-up to Hoffman's post, titled “Why Crunch Mode Doesn't Work: 6 Lessons” on the International Game Developers Association's site where he mentioned the fact, that in the long term, numerous employment hours reduce the productivity of the individual workers (citing several studies), and, in addition, make the employees less happy than if they were working reasonably. The article was featured on Slashdot and other news sites.
