Eragon - Genre

Genre

As described above, Paolini added in "archetypal ingredients" of a fantasy book – a quest, a journey of experience, revenge, romance, betrayal, and a 'special' sword. The book is described as a fantasy with Booklist writing "Paolini knows the genre well—his lush tale is full of recognizable fantasy elements and conventions". The book has been compared to other books of the fantasy genre such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Reviews have also felt that the plot genre is too similar to those other fantasy novels. The book was called a "high fantasy" by Kirkus Review.

Famous quotes containing the word genre:

We ignore thriller writers at our peril. Their genre is the political condition. They massage our dreams and magnify our nightmares. If it is true that we always need enemies, then we will always need writers of fiction to encode our fears and fantasies.
    Daniel Easterman (b. 1949)
