Ajay Vidyasagar, Chief Operating Officer of Sun TV Network maintained that Enthiran's revenue accounted for approximately 30 per cent of the total revenue for the company's fourth-quarter in 2010. He also added that the film, produced on a budget of 250 crore by Sun Pictures was sold for 179 crore to distributors and may have grossed 375 crore worldwide. Hansraj Saxena, the producer however claimed that the film grossed $80 million worldwide and 210 crore in India By those accounts, it is the highest grossing Indian film of its time. However, independent sources like Box Office India remained skeptic and put the earnings at about 255.5 crore (US$46.5 million) with 186.50 crore nett and 202 crore gross while overseas earnings are around US$12 million.
