Elizabeth Seton High School - Service Learning Program

Service Learning Program

Seton has a Service Learning Program based on its identity as a Catholic school, in accordance with the Vincentian Spirit and the Mission of the Daughters of Charity. Students must complete a minimum of 20 hours of service per school year, 10 of which must be given to the disadvantaged. Most students exceed these minimum requirements.

Famous quotes containing the words service, learning and/or program:

The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it NOW deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
    Thomas Paine (1737–1809)

Professors could silence me then; they had figures, diagrams, maps, books.... I was learning that books and diagrams can be evil things if they deaden the mind of man and make him blind or cynical before subjection of any kind.
    Agnes Smedley (1890–1950)

The blacksmith dropped his hammer, the carpenter his plane, the mason his trowel, the farmer his sickle, the baker his loaf, and the tapster his bottle. All were off for the mines, some on horses, some on carts, and some on crutches, and one went in a litter.
—For the State of California, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
