Family
His father Khan Bahadur Haji Moula Bux Soomro was Central and Provincial Minister, and senior adviser to President Zia ul Haq, he played an important role in Zia Regime. His uncle Khan Bahadur Allah Bux Soomro was the first Chief Minister of Sindh, and served twice. His elder brother Ahmed Mian Soomro was the Deputy Speaker of the West Pakistan Assembly, during Ayub Khan's regime and his younger brother, Iftikhar Soomro was Provincial Minister in Zia Regime. His cousin Rahim Bux Soomro was Minister Sindh. Some other relatives of him, are and have remained Members of the Parliament. His Nephew, Muhammad Mian Soomro, served twice as chairman Senate of Pakistan, Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Interim President of Pakistan and Governor of Sindh. The current Federal Finance Minister is also his nephew, Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. He has two sons, Zubyr and Nusair, and five grandchildren, Maula Bukhsh Soomro, Taha Soomro, Omair Soomro, Taimur Soomro and Syed Gibran Ahsan. His grandson Maula Bukhsh joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's student wing Insaf Student Federation and shocked the political circle, by leaving behind his elders' footsteps.
