History
The Edinburgh Eagles were founded in 1998 and entered into the Scottish Rugby League Conference (SRLC). The Eagles have enjoyed a great success in the RLC and are currently the most successful Scottish team since its conception having won nine out of the last fifteen titles including back to back titles in 2001, 2002, 2003 in 2007, 2008, 2009 and again in 2011, 2012.
As winners of the RLC Scotland, the club gain automatic entry into the Carnegie Challenge cup, where the Eagles progressed through to the 2nd round for the first time in 2009 after a thrilling victory over the Royal Air Force in Wolverhampton 18 - 16. The 2010 competition saw the Eagles progress to the second round once more but they were thwarted by Welsh Champions Blackwood Bulldogs at Meggetland in Edinburgh.
Following the 2012 Grand Final win the Eagles qualified for the Quarter Finals of the Harry Jepson Trophy for the second year running. The Eagles were handed a home draw against Gateshead Storm and won 36-20 to secure a place in the Semi Final against Northampton Demons were their challenge ended in a 34-12 defeat. This is the second time any Scottish club has reached this stage of the competition, following the Eagles progression to the same stage in 2011.
In 2011 the Andy Couser Memorial Trophy was presented for the first time to the committees player of the year and will be presented annually at the Edinburgh Eagles Club Dinner.
2012 saw the Eagles enter 2 senior teams into the RLC leagues for the first time. with the 1st team playing in the Central league and finished top of the league and gaining a home play-off, the 2nd team finished 2nd in the Northern league with an away play-off.
