Edge Media Television

Edge Media Television are an independent production company who broadcast in the UK and Ireland on the Sky platform as "Controversial TV". The channel launched in June 2008 after the founder, Keith Goodyer, acquired EMTV Ltd. The acquisition of EMTV Ltd included their Ofcom broadcast licence, which had previously been used to air the now defunct East Midlands Television. As the licence, and the Sky channel, were known as EMTV, the name "Edge Media Television" was created as a backronym. Although the Sky channel was subsequently renamed "Controversial TV", the production company and channel are still referred to onscreen as Edge Media.

Famous quotes containing the words edge, media and/or television:

It was her stern necessity: all things
Are of one pattern made; bird, beast, and flower,
Deceive us, seeming to be many things,
And are but one. Beheld far off, they differ
As God and devil; bring them to the mind,
They dull its edge with their monotony.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The corporate grip on opinion in the United States is one of the wonders of the Western World. No First World country has ever managed to eliminate so entirely from its media all objectivity—much less dissent.
    Gore Vidal (b. 1925)

Anyone afraid of what he thinks television does to the world is probably just afraid of the world.
    Clive James (b. 1939)
