IRB Rugby World Cup 2011
Eden Park was the largest stadium selected for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. After the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes, the two quarter final matches (scheduled to be held in the AMI Stadium in Christchurch), were moved to Eden Park. On October 23, 2011, Eden Park became the first ground to host two Rugby World Cup finals, after hosting the inaugural tournament final in 1987. Also, the four teams that reached the semi-finals in 2011 were the same teams that reached the semi-finals in 1987. Furthermore, the third-place and final matches consist of the same national teams as in 1987.

Famous quotes containing the words world and/or cup:
“You British plundered half the world for your own profit. Lets not pass it off as the Age of Enlightenment.”
—Paddy Chayefsky (19231981)
“There is not enough exercise in this way of life. I try to make up by active gymnastics before I dress when I get up, by walking rapidly in the lower hall and the greenhouse after each meal for perhaps five to ten minutes, and a good hand rubbing before going to bed. I eat moderately; drink one cup of coffee at breakfast and one cup of tea at lunch and no other stimulant. My health is now, and usually, excellent.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
