East Williston (LIRR Station) - Platforms and Tracks

Platforms and Tracks

The station has two high-level side platforms, each 10 cars long. The west platform, next to Track 1, is generally used by southbound or New York City-bound trains. The east platform, next to Track 2, is generally used by northbound or Oyster Bay-bound trains. The Oyster Bay Branch has two tracks here. East Williston is the only Oyster Bay Branch station that is electrified. Only a few electric trains stop in this station.

Famous quotes containing the words platforms and/or tracks:

I would rather be known as an advocate of equal suffrage than to speak every night on the best-paying platforms in the United States and ignore it.
    Anna Howard Shaw (1847–1919)

The tracks of moose, more or less recent, to speak literally, covered every square rod on the sides of the mountain; and these animals are probably more numerous there now than ever before, being driven into this wilderness, from all sides, by the settlements.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
