Statesboro Center
In 1997, the Statesboro Center was established as a collaboration between East Georgia State College and Georgia Southern University to serve students living in the Statesboro-Bulloch County area as well as those who do not meet Georgia Southern's requirements for regular freshman admission. Because a majority of the Statesboro Center's classes are held on the Georgia Southern campus, EGSC Statesboro students are afforded most of the services provided to GSU students by paying the host university's student services fees. EGSC Statesboro students are permitted to take classes and participate in athletic programs in Swainsboro. After earning at least 30 credit hours of college-level coursework and attaining a GPA of at least 2.0, students can then transfer to a four-year university or choose to continue their education at East Georgia State College.
From its inception until July 2011, the Statesboro Center has housed its offices for professors and administrative functions in leased office space and used Georgia Southern classroom space. In March 2010, the college broke ground on a new satellite campus, near the main campus of Ogeechee Technical College. The new academic center opened just before the start of the 2011 fall semester and houses classroom space, a student computer lab, and a commons area in addition to its aforementioned functions; however, several classes are still held at the Georgia Southern campus and many of the Statesboro Center's auxiliary services are still provided by the university. A shuttle service between the EGSC satellite campus and Paulson Stadium is provided, allowing students to access the Georgia Southern campus.
