Prolific and Other Priority Offenders Scheme and DIP
In 2004, the Prolific and Other Priority Offenders (PPO) Scheme was set up. A crime reduction initiative, it aims to identify a hard-core of individuals considered responsible for large amounts of crime, and manage them through either rehabilitation or conviction. There are currently 10,000 offenders in the UK who are involved in the PPO scheme, a significant proportion of whom have drug dependency issues. The Home Office encourages DIPs and PPO schemes to work closely together in such cases to ensure effective case management of offenders.

Famous quotes containing the words prolific, priority, scheme and/or dip:
“If I have renounced the search of truth, if I have come into the port of some pretending dogmatism, some new church, some Schelling or Cousin, I have died to all use of these new events that are born out of prolific time into multitude of life every hour. I am as bankrupt to whom brilliant opportunities offer in vain. He has just foreclosed his freedom, tied his hands, locked himself up and given the key to another to keep.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Weekend planning is a prime time to apply the Deathbed Priority Test: On your deathbed, will you wish youd spent more prime weekend hours grocery shopping or walking in the woods with your kids?”
—Louise Lague (20th century)
“In the scheme of our national government, the presidency is preeminently the peoples office.”
—Grover Cleveland (18371908)
“A just thinker will allow full swing to his skepticism. I dip my pen in the blackest ink, because I am not afraid of falling into my inkpot.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
