Famous quotes containing the words poor man, poor and/or man:
“Remember that you are an actor in a drama, of such a part as it may please the master to assign you, for a long time or for a little as he may choose. And if he will you to take the part of a poor man, or a cripple, or a ruler, or a private citizen, then may you act that part with grace! —Epictetus (c. 55135 B.C.)
“A poor life is better than a good death.”
—Chinese proverb.
“In truth, a mature man who uses hair-oil, unless medicinally, that man has probably got a quoggy spot in him somewhere. As a general rule, he cant amount to much in his totality.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
