Dimension Records

Dimension Records was a record label founded in 1962 in New York City by Don Kirshner and Al Nevins, owners of Aldon Music. It concentrated on the girl group sound and showcased songs by Goffin and King. Their composition "The Loco-Motion", sung by Little Eva, gave it its biggest hit. Background vocals on that record were by The Cookies, who had their own hits on the label, including "Chains", which was later recorded by The Beatles.

In the UK, it was licensed to London Records.

When Aldon Music was sold to Columbia Pictures, Dimension Records was sold with it. The catalog was eventurally acquired by Roulette Records, which was in turn acquired by Rhino Records, which controls the catalog today.

Famous quotes containing the words dimension and/or records:

Authority is the spiritual dimension of power because it depends upon faith in a system of meaning that decrees the necessity of the hierarchical order and so provides for the unity of imperative control.
    Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)

Although crowds gathered once if she but showed her face,
And even old men’s eyes grew dim, this hand alone,
Like some last courtier at a gypsy camping-place
Babbling of fallen majesty, records what’s gone.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
