Plans For Change Between 2006 and 2007
Deming Public Schools has plans to change the configuration of the local schools:
- All 6th graders, except for those at Columbus Elementary School, would attend one building
- 7th and 8th graders would attend Red Mountain Middle School
- 9th through 12th graders would attend Deming High School
- Smith and Martin elementary schools would close while Ruben Torres Elementary School would open.
- The construction of a new Columbus Elementary School which should be completed in time for the 2009-2010 school year.
