Famous quotes containing the words deeply, vale and/or festivals:

    America today is capable of terrific intolerance about smoking, or toxic waste that threatens trout. But only a deeply confused society is more concerned about protecting lungs than minds, trout than black women.
    Garry Wills (b. 1934)

    There is not in the wide world a valley so sweet
    As that vale in whose bosom the bright waters meet;
    Thomas Moore (1779–1852)

The stupid years patter on with unrelenting feet, never stopping—rising to little monotonous peaks in our imaginations at festivals like New Year’s and Easter and Christmas—But, goodness, why need they do it?
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)
