The name has been thought to be parody of Dakkam, a planet of similar humanoids in Marvel Comics created by Steve Gerber as a parody of Superman in the origin of Wundarr the Aquarian, but that cannot be so, since the name Daxam was introduced in Superboy #89 in 1961, while Dakkam did not appear until 1973.
