Da Vinci Surgical System - Criticism

Criticism

Critics of robotic surgery say there is a steep learning curve for surgeons who adopt it, and that there has been a lack of credible studies that indicate long-term results are superior to results following traditional laparoscopic surgery. The Da Vinci system uses proprietary software, which cannot be modified by physicians, thereby limiting the freedom to modify the operation system. With a cost of around $2.5 million, it may also be beyond the financial reach of many institutions.

Famous quotes containing the word criticism:

Of all the cants which are canted in this canting world—though the cant of hypocrites may be the worst—the cant of criticism is the most tormenting!
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)

However intense my experience, I am conscious of the presence and criticism of a part of me, which, as it were, is not a part of me, but a spectator, sharing no experience, but taking note of it, and that is no more I than it is you. When the play, it may be the tragedy, of life is over, the spectator goes his way. It was a kind of fiction, a work of the imagination only, so far as he was concerned.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Homoeopathy is insignificant as an art of healing, but of great value as criticism on the hygeia or medical practice of the time.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
