The Czech Figure Skating Championships are the figure skating national championships held annually to crown the national champions of the Czech Republic. Medals may be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the senior, junior, and novice levels.
In 2007 and 2008, the Czech Championships were held concurrently with the Slovak Championships. Since 2009, the event is held with Slovakia and Poland, forming the Three Nationals Championships. Skaters from the three countries compete together and the results are split at the end of the competition to form national podiums.
Famous quotes containing the words czech, figure and/or skating:
“Im neither Czech nor Slovak ... Im still trying to figure out who I am. I think Im Jewish. But first I want to be human.”
—Natasha Dudinska (b. c. 1967)
“Silence is the universal refuge, the sequel to all dull discourses and all foolish acts, a balm to our every chagrin, as welcome after satiety as after disappointment; that background which the painter may not daub, be he master or bungler, and which, however awkward a figure we may have made in the foreground, remains ever our inviolable asylum, where no indignity can assail, no personality can disturb us.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Good writing is a kind of skating which carries off the performer where he would not go, and is only right admirable when to all its beauty and speed a subserviency to the will, like that of walking, is added.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
