Curse of Enchantia - Legacy

Legacy

Enchantia 2, a direct sequel for the game was planned but never released, in part because of Robert Toone's departure from the company, and the new game "has grown up so much during the development that it has simply became a follow up," incorporating elements of a film script written by Rolf Mohr several years earlier. Core Design released Universe in 1994 (its working title having still been Curse of Enchantia II), a science fiction adventure game which uses the game engine of Curse of Enchantia (albeit upgraded to run in 256 colors on a standard Amiga 500) and a similar user interface, but with inclusion of in-game text and dialogue. It was also described by the developers as being a "a lot" less illogical and linear than Curse of Enchantia. Universe premise is similar, featuring a young man (his name was changed to Boris, but he still had a sister named Jenny) who is transported to another world and has to rid it of an evil overlord, but the game is more serious in its tone. Universe was the second and last point-and-click adventure developed by Core Design, who then instead concentrated on 3D games for the PC and fifth-generation consoles, including what would become Tomb Raider.

Curse of Enchantia also inspired the name of the Polish reggae band, Enchantia. The band chose the name because they thought it "feels warm". The game's chief artist Rolf Mohr said the cover art for Disney's 2007 film Enchanted could have been inspired by his cover art for Curse of Enchantia in "a case of Art imitating Disney imitating Art, since I was definitely inspired by the witch from Sleeping Beauty in the first place."
