Cultural Attache's/Embassies of European Countries
Geothe Zentrum - Trivandrum's relation with Germany goes back to Basel missionary Hermann Gundert, who in a pivotal meeting with the Travancore maharajah decided to stay back in Kerala, where he wrote the first formal dictionary of sorts of Malayalam thus playing a pivotal role in the state's education and language. His influence on his grandson Hermann Hesse, the nobel laureate, was evident in the latter's writings. Goethe Zentrum hosts language classes, european and swiss cultural exchange programs and film festivals.

Famous quotes containing the words cultural, european and/or countries:
“We are in the process of creating what deserves to be called the idiot culture. Not an idiot sub-culture, which every society has bubbling beneath the surface and which can provide harmless fun; but the culture itself. For the first time, the weird and the stupid and the coarse are becoming our cultural norm, even our cultural ideal.”
—Carl Bernstein (b. 1944)
“Is thy home European or Asian,
O mystical monster marine?”
—Arthur Clement Hilton (18511877)
“Communists have always played an active role in the fight by colonial countries for their freedom, because the short- term objects of Communism would always correspond with the long-term objects of freedom movements.”
—Nelson Mandela (b. 1918)
