Signal Box

County School Halesworth, Suffolk Great Eastern Railway The station was originally provided with a main signal box to the north of the station, and a ground frame cabin to the south of the level crossing. The original signal box was demolished after the line closed to passengers and has been replaced by the 'box from Halesworth. While Halesworth had a timber locking room, the cabin has been placed on a brick structure reflecting the original County School box. It has been rebuilt on the original footings and will serve as a visitor attraction until required for operations.

The signal box was originally removed from Halesworth station to a local school, and later donated to the Trust for restoration.

Famous quotes containing the words signal and/or box:

The experience of a sense of guilt for wrong-doing is necessary for the development of self-control. The guilt feelings will later serve as a warning signal which the child can produce himself when an impulse to repeat the naughty act comes over him. When the child can produce his on warning signals, independent of the actual presence of the adult, he is on the way to developing a conscience.
    Selma H. Fraiberg (20th century)

I hate love. Hate being in love. I never want it to happen to me again.
    —Muriel Box (b. 1905)
