The melody of "Cotton Fields" is also used in the Mexican song "Cuando Yo Era Jovencito" by Los Apson and Ramón Ayala. The title is taken from the first line of "Cotton Fields". Differences to the original version are shown that the song relates a woman giving advice to a young boy respect to love and relationships.
