Coral Gables Senior High School

Coral Gables Senior High School is a secondary school located at 450 Bird Road in Coral Gables, Florida, at the corner of LeJeune Road.

Coral Gables SHS opened its doors in 1950; its architectural design reflects a Spanish influence with its open courtyards adorned with water fountains. New buildings have been added to its 26-acre (110,000 m2) campus, most recently a three-story building.

Coral Gables SHS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The last review took place in the spring of 2006. The instructional faculty consists of 183 teachers. Eighty-two members of the faculty have a Masters degree and six faculty members have earned a Doctorate degree. Coral Gables High School was one of only twelve high schools in the nation to win the Siemens Foundation's Award for Advanced Placement. It also ranks 221st in Newsweek's Top 1,000 U.S. Schools.

Coral Gables SHS is served by the Miami Metrorail at the Douglas Road Station.

Famous quotes containing the words coral, senior, high and/or school:

The cities are the principal home and seat of the human group. They are the coral colony for Man, the collective being.
    Alfred Döblin (1878–1957)

Adolescents have the right to be themselves. The fact that you were the belle of the ball, the captain of the lacrosse team, the president of your senior class, Phi Beta Kappa, or a political activist doesn’t mean that your teenager will be or should be the same....Likewise, the fact that you were a wallflower, uncoordinated, and a C student shouldn’t mean that you push your child to be everything you were not.
    Laurence Steinberg (20th century)

To me this world is all one continued vision of fancy or imagination, and I feel flattered when I am told so. What is it sets Homer, Virgil and Milton in so high a rank of art? Why is Bible more entertaining and instructive than any other book? Is it not because they are addressed to the imagination, which is spiritual sensation, and but mediately to the understanding or reason?
    William Blake (1757–1827)

Obviously, it’s a great privilege and pleasure to be here at the Yale Law School Sesquicentennial Convocation. And I defy anyone to say that and chew gum at the same time.
    Gerald R. Ford (b. 1913)
