The Board of Governors of Convent Bukit Nanas Secondary School
(Lembaga Pengelola Sekolah Menengah Convent Bukit Nanas)
With Merdeka, there came a major overhaul of the education system. In the move to integrate the various school traditions into a single national school system it was recognized that there was something beneficial, even highly enriching within particular school traditions, such as the Convent Schools.
School Boards were introduced following the recommendation of the Razak Report of 1956. They were given extensive powers- from the hiring and firing of teachers, supervision of school finances and administration of Mission Property. The Board was made up of three representatives each from the Mission, parent body and the local education office and past students.
While the new Boards worked to safeguard Mission interests, they represented a radical change from the traditional administration model under which the Reverend Mother Principal had full control, answerable to her Provincial and the local Education Officer.

Famous quotes containing the words board, governors, convent, secondary and/or school:
“Dont tell me what delusion he entertains regarding God, or what mountebank he follows in politics, or what he springs from, or what he submits to from his wife. Simply tell me how he makes his living. It is the safest and surest of all known tests. A man who gets his board and lodging on this ball in an ignominious way is inevitably an ignominious man.”
—H.L. (Henry Lewis)
“I do love this people [the French] with all my heart, and think that with a better religion and a better form of government and their present governors their condition and country would be most enviable.”
—Thomas Jefferson (17431826)
“...as for helping me in the outside world, the Convent taught me only that if you spit on a pencil eraser, it will erase ink.”
—Dorothy Parker (18931967)
“Words are always getting conventionalized to some secondary meaning. It is one of the works of poetry to take the truants in custody and bring them back to their right senses.”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
“And this school wasnt keeping anymore,
Unless for penitents who took their seat
Upon its doorsteps as at mercys feet
To make up for a lack of meditation.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
